Japanese Zen Garden
Japanese rock gardens were first developed during the 8th century and often mimicked the gardens of China’s Song Dynasty. During the 14th century became simpler using large boulders and carefully raked gravel. These rock gardens, also known as dry landscape gardens or karesansui contained elements that represented larger landscapes to inspire meditation and large stones represented mountains and the raked pebbles evoke watery waves.
