Ruins of Sigulda Castle, Latvia


Ruins of the 13th century medieval Sigulda Castle (Siguldas pilsdrupas), in Gauja National Park, Vizdeme, Latvia. Built by the Order of the Brothers of the Sword and overlooking the Gauja River valley, it was destroyed during the Great Northern War in the 18th century. Sigulda celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2007.
