The quay and harbour at “Little Venice” la Venise Provençale, in the town of Martigues in the south of France.

Martigues was once a small fishing village. It is set on the banks of the Etang de Berre and is connected to the sea by the Canal de Caronte. Although there are nearby oil refineries Martigues has kept its Provençal charm. In the past it was a favourite spot for writers and artist. Today it is popular with tourists and the owners of pleasure boats.
