Like the wild animals of this continent, almost without exception, the Trout of Vimerica is a distinct species from the fish of Europe ; although, as in many other instances, the general resemblance is so strong, and the characteristic differences so narrow, that in the eyes of a common observer, judging from memory only, they appear to be identical.
