Heritage Breed Belted Galloway Cattle at a water trough and grazing on Reigate Colley Hill

Heritage Breed Belted Galloway Cattle at a water trough and grazing on Reigate Colley Hill. Heritage Belted Galloway Cattle ore grazed on the land to maintain the ecology of the downland grass and scrub. The cattle are "polled" - they have their horns removed. The origins of the Belted Galloways is believed to have come from cross breeding with Dutch Belted Cattle and the herd was first registered, with Aberdeen Angus and Galloways in 1852. Belted Galloways acquired their own breed book in 1878.
