Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, St Ives, Cornwall, UK: River Form (1965), Four-Square (Walk Through) (1966) and Figure for Landscape (1959–60)
Barbara Hepworth, the British sculptor, was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire in 1903. She was a leading figure in the international art scene throughout a career spanning five decades. Barbara Hepworth went to live in Cornwall in 1939. She lived and worked here in Trewyn studios – now the Barbara Hepworth Museum – from 1949 until her death in 1975. Most of the bronzes are in the positions in which the artist herself placed them. The garden itself was laid out by Barbara Hepworth with help from a friend, the composer Priaulx Rainier.
