The total contour line indicates thatwhile in the main sales of solid steelwheels have followed and been affectedby the peaks and valleys of the carbuying movements, there has been a pro-gressive increase in the number manu-factured. The number of steam andelectric railway wheels purchased in anyyear is somewhat commensurate withthe number of cars purchased in thatyear. So far as industrial wheels are con-cerned, the lower area shows a con-tinuous increase, which in the last threeyears has been decidedly marked. Theexperimental stage has, therefore, beenpassed, and the solid steel wheel forindustrial purposes may be considered asfirmly established in
