During his boyhood his parentsmoved to Allegany county, New York, and it was in the schools ofNew York State that Peter Truax received all the book educationwhich was granted him, and which was limited in accordance withthe facilities of all public education in his time. In 1853 the familycame west to Wisconsin, settling in Walworth county. The fatherof Peter Truax died in Eau Claire when more than one hundredyears of age.
