Whichever is the correct view is not of very much consequence now, for Weddell (see p. 309), who landed on the islands some nine weeks ' Balch, E. S., 1904, Antarctica Addenda, Journ. Franklin Inst., CLVn, p. 86 (Philadelphia). 2 However this may be, it apparently did not deter Palmer from calling the new discovery South Iceland.
