Pescara, Abruzzo (Italy): the Trabocco, translatable with word "fish-trap", is an ancient fishing machine on piles, typical of the lower Adriatic coast (Italy). Once it was made entirely of wood and the platform stretched out over the sea was anchored to the rock by large trunks of Aleppo pine. The long arms supported a very large net with narrow meshes. Today the Trabocco has lost the primary purpose for which it was originally designed, turning into a "room on the sea" for small restaurants or private events.
