GEAR-WASHING MACHINE A machine for washing grease and dirt from motor andtruck parts has just been built and installed in the ChicagoRailways shops. This machine is located in a covered aislebetween the truck shop and the machine shop. Briefly, it con-sists of a large tank into which may be lowered a steel cage. Motor Frame as Rebored, Showing Bearing Shells and Flat Keys means of compressed air from a barrel under the floor intowhich it drains. In reboring the frames the dowel pins in the bearing caps arecut off and flat keys fitting into slots in the bearing shells aresubstituted.
