Cosmic radiation research. Apparatus at the Concordia research station, Antarctica, used to measure B-mode polarisation of cosmic radiation to an accuracy of 3 degrees Kelvin. The Concordia Research station was built at a location called Dome C on the Antarctic Plateau. The transparency of the atmosphere, high percentage of cloud-free time, low infrared sky emission, and low aerosol and dust content of the atmosphere, makes it a suitable location for extremely accurate astronomical observations.
