Showgirl 'Miss Informed' and knitters from around the UK were welcomed to Blackpool sea front to spin their own yarn in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for simultaneous knitting. The hardy wool warriors were faced with a blustery cool breeze but were able to knit themselves warm. The current world record stands at 3089 people & with the assistance of the Town Crier 'Barry McQueen', new recruits were summoned from pavements & were more than happy to join in the fun. Knitting fans are being called to Blackpool to help write their own yarn into the Guinness Book of Records. Committed wool warriors are organising a world record attempt on the Prom at South Shore, early next month. They are appealing for everyone to join them in the bid to have the most people in one spot knitting at the same time. The event at 11am, on Sunday July 10, is open to anyone and lessons in knitting will take place which will count towards beating the record which stands at 3,089 people, set in London.
