Marines fire an 81mm mortar in order to properly register the weapon system to enhance security posture near Gereshk, Afghanistan, Sept. 22, 2017. Advisors with Task Force Southwest are supporting their Afghan National Defense and Security Force counterparts throughout Operation Maiwand Six. Various elements of ANDSF, including the Afghan National Army 215th Corps and 505th Zone National Police, are working to destroy insurgent presence in the Gereshk area as a means to enhance security and stability for the local populace.
