Old Man of Hoy rock stack from the cliffs of Hoy, Orkney, Scotland, UK. St Ola (III) Stromness to Scrabster ferry in background. The Old Man of Hoy is a 450 ft (137m) high pillar of old red sandstone on a base of basalt situated between Rora Head and the The Carl and The Sow at the north west of the island. First successful climb led by Chris Bonnington in July 1966. Climed by Joe & Zoe Brown in 1985: St Ola III in service 1974 - 1992. Sold to Intercontinental Energy SA, Panama, and renamed Odigitria. In 2018 listed on as owned by Chinese Government since 1995 and still working as a ferry IMO: 7340954. July 1987
