Rolling stock for invasion, including trucks, jeeps and ambulances, ride the top tank deck of a Coast Guard LST (landing ship, tanks) on the D Day invasion sweep across the English Channel to the Norman coast beachhead. The heavy mechanized equipment followed close in the wake of the landing barges from which troops cleared the beaches.
