The LCAC 100 class was designed to carry the legacy of the traditional LCAC while introducing expeditionary advancements such as heavier weight capacities and integration of new technology. LCACs have been essential to the Navy and Marine Corps amphibious operations and have provided humanitarian aid during natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the catastrophic magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010.
