Grant's Gazelle, Gazella granti. A large, handsome gazelle, pale to darker tan, with white lower trunk, inner legs, throat patch and rump patch as well as dark vertical lines on thighs, face patches and a side stripe which may only occur in females and young. The males wear long, thick, heavily ringed horns. They inhabit subdesert, lowland thornbush, savanna woodland, open plains and montane grassland habitats, as well browsing as grazing. Activity peaks are early and late in day, but they can be active day and night. Grant´s Gazelles form large herds with several territorial males, all assembling dominance when herd is on their property. Smaller herds with one dominant male and bachelor groups are also common.
