Flowers are getting scarce as busi- ness is increasing. Marigolds and zin- nias are small and chrysanthemums are almost gone, except for a few late va- rieties. Carnations, indoors and out- doors, are getting better. Cattleya labiata is equal to the demand. Two first-class weddings, a large funeral and a big navy ball were the chief business of the week. Various Notes. Walter Ollestad has discarded his greenhouse carnations and has planted roses instead. He considered it too much work and too expensive to replace carnations every year. He keeps his roses going three years. George F. Otto reports good business, especially in decorative plants. Miss A. M. Rainford had charge of the decorations of two of the largest weddings of the season. Boyle & Darnaud furnished 1,000 roses for the navy ball. At the store, funeral work keeps the staff busy.
