Wearable computing. Researchers, including Thad Starner (upper left, bearded), wearing devices that are linked to a portable computer. Information can be relayed to the wearer through earphones or by displays on the inside of the glasses. Data can be entered using a microphone, a hand-held device or a keyboard sewn onto the clothing. The computer can use tiny cameras in the glasses to recognise people that the wearer meets. The computer can direct the wearer with the aid of a navigational sensor. The computer can also access the internet using radio links. Starner is the co- founder of the \wearable computer\" project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA."
