Beginning in 1955, District Meet-ings will be held in the spring, andthe annual meeting in the fall. Plansfor the 1955 district meetings have notbeen made, but an invitation for the an-nual meeting in the fall was given bythe church. Nine churches which gave a total of$1, in 1953 had not made anyremittance to the above date for 1954,but it is expected that their gifts willexceed the 1953 figures. Present indications indicate a totaloffering of about $4,200, which will bedivided 60% for the Assembly and 40%for the Presbytery. In 1953 the offeringwas $3,500, all of which went to theGeneral Assembly. In support of the Capital Gifts pro-gram in the Presbytery and the GeneralAssembly, Asheville Presbytery hadasked the churches to give approximate-ly $9,400 this year. The response ofthe churches is, therefore, less than fiftyper cent
