The Northern Ireland Parliament Building is commonly known as Stormont, because of its location in the Stormont Estate area of Belfast. Previously housing the defunct Parliament of Northern Ireland, it is now the seat of the Northern Ireland Assembly. This grandiose classically styled building was opened in 1932, after having been delayed for several years by the global financial depression.
