Intrusive roadside electricity pylons near the summit of Drumochter Pass on the A9 trunk road, Scottish Highlands, Scotland UK.
The Scottish Beauly to Denny power line was completed and became fully operational in 2015, in spite of many objections from environmentalists. The purpose of this controversial project was to supply energy from renewable sources in the north of Scotland to power-hungry cities further south. The main focus of the objections was the potential impact of the pylons and supporting structures on the landscape. This impact is now evident when travelling along the section of the A9 road shown in this image.
