Eclampsia. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the brain of a 27 year old woman (from below), 7 days after giving birth (post partum). Eclampsia is the onset of seizures or unexplained coma during pregnancy or post partum. There are lesions (white) all over the brain but mostly in the frontal lobe (top, right scan). The lesions result from inflammation and reduced blood flow to the brain in preeclampsia, a condition that may lead to eclampsia.
