The Theatre Leptis Magna Libya

Leptis Magna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a prime example of Roman architectural excess. Renovations by Italian archaeologists has ensured that Leptis Magna remains one of the world's great sites of antiquity. Situated about 80 miles east of Tripoli it is an easy day trip from the Libyan capital. Hitherto largely devoid of visitors but with the lifting of sanctions against the Gaddafi regime Western tourists are beginning to visit in greater numbers.
