The motor is carried in the ordinarymanner, but has a broader pinion. The gear wheel andcar wheel are mounted on a sleeve which can slide on theaxle. The gage-changing equipment consists essentially of anextra shaft behind each truck axle on which is carried aso-called distance block, to lock the wheel in the desiredposition. This shaft is turned by a lever mounted on theupper side frame of the truck, this causing the block torise or fall from the side of the car wheels. Assuming that.
