Now a simplepipe and spring attachment has been devised whichmakes it an easy matter to release the pantograph bymeans of the original pole. Some of the changes which have been made in the carequipment include the substitution of a two-coil trans-former which weighs 1,000 lb. less than the originalauto-transformer. This necessitates a separate returnto the transformer. The comparative sizes of the twotransformers are shown in one of the illustrationswhich shows them AT LEFT, TiiJ^ CAR BODY IS HOISTED W^ITH A YOKE ATTACHED TO THE OVERHEAD CRANE.
