Cancer cell dividing. Computer illustration of a malignant (cancerous) cell undergoing cytokinesis (cell division) to form two daughter cells (top right and bottom left). Cytokinesis occurs after nuclear division (mitosis), which produces two daughter nuclei. Cancerous (malignant) cells divide rapidly and uncontrollably and are able to invade and destroy surrounding tissue. These cells are showing numerous blebs (lumps), which are characteristic of cancer cells.
