Thismine was for many years one of the important quicksilver producersof California, having been opened up in 1876 and operated contin-uously up to 1909. when it was closed by the Napa Consolidated com-pany as being Avorked out—at least, the ore had dropped below aprofitable working grade for the price at Avliich quicksilver was thenselling. The records shoAv a total output of 152,066 flasks from 1876to 1917 inclusive. The older worked ore slioots were on the ^Mercury and Manzanitaveins, the later developments being to the southwest and around on theother side of the ridge, on the Escape, Eureka, Humboldt and Osceolaveins.
