The World Black Pudding Throwimg Championships take place outside the Royal Oak public house (now known as The Oaks in the Lancashire Vikllage. Contestants stand on a 'Golden Grid' which is reputed to arrive by steam train from a secret location, which has been ceremonially paraded up the main street. They then have 3 attempts to dislodge a cluster of Yorkshire Puddings from a plinth 20 feet up scaffolding using 3 Chadwick's of Bury Black Puddings using an underark throw or 'lob'.
