Bengalese eagle owl (Bubo bengalensis) female. This bird is found throughout the mainland Indian sub-continent. It inhabits rocky hills, arid areas, and wooded ravines. It grows to lengths of 50 centimetres. It is mostly nocturnal, hunting small mammals, mainly rodents, and mid-sized birds. It will also eat frogs, crustaceans and large insects.
