This colony was led byPeter Minuet, a German from Wesel,^^** who landedon Manhattan island, May 4, 1626, and there laidthe foundation of New Amsterdam, and at the sametime that of the Reformed faith in America. The German soldier, Peter Minuet, was the firstgovernor of the colony of New Netherlands, andacted as ruling elder of the church in the infantsettlement.^ It is a fact worth}^ of special mention THE FEN/NSYLVANIA-GERnAiN SOCIETY.
