The faces of the arch are elab-orately decorated with festoons, and on the ends ofthe balustrade are grotesque figures of sea animalsin concrete, the size of which may be estimated bycomparison with the people on the bridge. Garfield Park Bridge, Chicago. The illustration shows an attractive park bridgebuilt in the year 1593 in Garfield Park. The openbalustrade with the heavy circular piers togetherwith the combination of rough and smooth finishunite to produce a pleasing appearance. Medal-lions on the piers have monograms with the park.
