Theseventilators are intended to take off impure and light air. In the ex-ternal wall are provided orifices, pitching outward and downward, totake off carbonic acid gas, which may be fatal to life, if allowed toaccumulate in the lowest part of the building. The large rooms areprovided with such orifices, by carrying every third or fourth windowto a level with the floor. These means are used to take off the im-pure and light air, and the heavier and more fatal gasses. To supplypure air, all the heating is made by ventilating 14. Natural Ventilation.
