The new PWC study shows that, across Scotland, coffee shops, banks, estate agents, sports shops and convenience and discount stores were among those opening the most branches during the first half of 2014 doubling in 2015. The hardest hit were clothing retailers, mobile phone shops, pawnbrokers, jewellers, building societies and small family businesses. The large supermarkets like Morrisons, Asda and Tesco are even reducing their prices to compete with the online stores and high cost of living and low wages. The Hilltown and Strathmartine Road were once thriving communities.
