Blood sample. Vial of donated blood in a sealed bag. The sample of blood will be tested for diseases such as malaria and hepatitis and also matched to a blood group and type. Once the sample has been processed and accepted, the donor is free to donate blood. Donor blood is given to patients in transfusions to replace lost blood, for example during surgical procedures or after accidents.
