Figure 262 represents a form of stocks now in general useon the Continent of Europe for controlling oxen. The fourupright side posts are beveled and curved to fit the body of theanimal. They are attached at their bottom by a hinged bolt toposts firmly fixed into the ground. They are united at thetop by keyed pins (c) (a) (b) (d). A post (e) is placed infront of the animal, to which the head is fixed by means of arope around base of horns. The hind legs may be fixed to therear post (f); the fore legs are fixed to support (g) on frontpost.
