Posts of iridio-platinum or silverwire, with their points fitted and cemented in the root-canals, willserve to support the crown or furnish a hold for the amalgam ( and 16). Fig. 1). Fig. 16. Fig. 17. Fig. When the natural tooth is decayed beyond the gum-margin, itshould be restored with amalgam (Fig. 17) so as to permit the partto be properly shaped as before described. It is understood thatwhen amalgam is used for such purposes it is to be allowed to setbefore the adjustment of the crown is proceeded with.
