The Scholastic work of the Academy is performed in ThreeDepartments, the Preparatory, covering four years, and the Aca-demic, occupying four years ; and beyond the latter is the PostGraduate Course, in which the length of residence depends uponthe individual pursuits of the pupil. Each class goes over theassigned course as a unit. Parents are earnestly advised not toencourage their daughters in deviations from the regular nine-tenths of the cases where such are desired, they work tothe decided detriment of the pupil, result in deficient mental train-ing, in insufficient occupation of time, and consequent home-sick-ness. Great care is taken that not too many subjects of study areconsidered at the same time, while, on the other hand, equal careis taken that the time of the pnpil may be properly effort is made to bring the backward scholar up
