Mr. Ferguson came from Dau-phin County, Pa., in 1818, and settled in LycomingCounty. By this union there were born to Mr. Brownfour children, as follows: Barbara S., May 9, 1826;Andrew C, April 24, 1828; John L., Nov. 4, 1831;and Priscilla F., Feb. 23,1834. Mrs. Brown died , 1834. After his first marriage his fiither locatedhim on a farm near Pine Creek, now owned by JohnBrown. Forfive years, besides managing his farm, he was generalmanager of Dixon & furnace, which he carriedon successfully. On tlie 4th day of March, 1835, hewas again married, his choice being his first wifessister, Miss Eleanor G. Ferguson, who was born inNorthumberland County, Pa., July 4, 1807. Theirunion was blessed with five children, viz.: Esther G.,born Aug. 25, 1838, died June 15, 1875; Thomas,born Jan. 21, 1841, died Sept. 8, 1875; Mary Ann,born Aug. 4, 1843, died June 4, 1856; Jane E., bornAug. 28, 1845, died April 6,1875 ; Susan Emma, bornDec. 26, 1847. In 1857, Mr. Brown moved on to thefarm which remained his home until his death, whichoccurred Sept. 12,1875. After moving on to the homefarm he continued to increase his business. Farmafter farm was bought and added to his estate. Heowned two farms on Pine Creek, one near Williams-po
