The beautiful beaded tentacles of the Beaded Sea Anemone (Heteractis aurora).
Nikonos RS SLR camera; Nikonos 50mm objective and Rene Aumann UW Services X2 teleconverter; two Nikonos S-105 strobes; Velvia 100F film; F16; 1/125s; TTL. Taken at: 17m depth; diving from MS. FeBrina. Trip organised by Chris Newbert of RS Tours. Shot on: 10:51 28th February 2005; sunny day, choppy. The Heteractis aurora, or Beaded Sea Anemone is distributed around the Red Sea, India, Melanesia and Polynesia. There are about seven species of anemonefish that are associated with this particular anemone. This species has been recorded as large as one third of a meter in diameter. The tentacles appear to have bulbs or swells at various intervals.
