The details are not worked out yet but there probably will be a class called Decor- ative. The adoption of a decorative class will mean a great deal to the gladiolus in- dustry. It will make a lot more business for the growers and also create much more interest among the fans. At present a variety has to be of the exhibition type with eight to ten or more blooms open to win in keen competition. A long spike with many open are what count. Color does not enter in so much. In the proposed decorative class color, form, charm and general beauty would count for more than large number open There are many fine varieties, among the most beautiful in existence, that at present stand no show on the exhibition table. But with this new class many of these varieties will come to the front.
