At this point the platform for west-boundcars is immediately above that for the east-bound, their depths be-low the street being respectively about 50 and 66^4 ft. Pump wellsand chambers under the harbor and ventilating chambers on eachside of the harbor are included in the section. Ventilation of thatportion of the tunnel under the harbor will be effected with the aid. of a segmental duct of about 4S_ sq. ft. cross section in the top ofthe tunnel. Near the middle of the harbor this duct will communi-cate with the tunnel below by a door. The shore ends of the ductwill open into ventilating chambers through which the air can bedrawn out.
