Anderson, the Medical Director of the Municipal CriminalCourt for the City of Boston, says that he finds that the term defectivedelinquent is being used by different examiners to define markedlydivergent types, and that altogether we have presented to us a ratherloose and confusing symptomatology connected with the term defectivedelinquent. He has therefore divided this group into three classi-fications : First—The mental defective, believing that defective used inreference to the mind of an individual, should carry with it a lack ofnormal mental development, and should have a very definite meaningto us that is demonstrable by exact measurements. Second—Psychopaths, a group of persons whose intellect is notimpaired, but who are impulsive, neurotic and unable to adjust them-selves to their environments, psychopaths being all cases of constitu-tional inferiority.
