DNA drug delivery nanotechnology, illustration. Strand of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, lower centre) being used to deliver a drug molecule (sphere). One of the aims of medical nanotechnology is to develop nanoscale vehicles such as this to enable targeted cellular delivery of chemicals such as drugs to cancer cells. This concept is based on research carried out at the California Institute of Technology and reported in 2017.
