A few hardy shrubs are a necessity in every garden; they require very little care, are perfectly hardy, and by planting a few distinct sorts they will flower in succes- sion and make the bed attractive during the whole season. We catalogue the best varieties only, and would call special attention to Deutzia Gracilis and Hydrangea Grandiflora. Don't fail to include these grand shrubs in your order, for when once planted they will be a constant source of pleasure. The plants we supply are strong, two-year-old plants, which will flower the first season. Hydrangea Grandiflora. (Sometimes Called ";) This is a grand plant; easily grown, very , showy and attractive, lasting in bloom fori months ; is perfectly hardy anyvvhere, needs no ; protection of any kind, and is, without any ques- tion, the finest hardy shrub in cultivation. It blooms in July, a time when no other shrub is in flower, the flowers remaining beautiful until destroyed by frost. The flowers are pure white, afterwards changing to pink, and are borne in immense pyramidal clusters, more than a foot â long, and nearly as much in diameter. It creates a sensation wherever seen, and has given more satisfaction than any plant we have ever sold. In our grounds the past season it made a splendid show, and attracted universal attention. For cemetery plats, for large estates, for persons with small residenceâanywhere, everywhereâit should be planted. The plants should be cut back every spring at least one-half of last season's growth, as the flowers are borne on the new wood, and are much finer when the plants are treated in this way. Planted in good soil they will bloom the first season, and the second season will make a grand display. Two sizes, 25 and 35 cts.
