Having read the Qiieftion, finding 5 diftind Numbersgiven (v^rhether fimple or mixt) one of them is always like the Thing fought,fet that one in the Middle; take thefe two which move the Queftion, or towhich the Anfwer immediately relates, fet them (in any OrderJ on the rightHand,- and the remaining two (which are always like the laft two, and arealfo conjunft in their Senfe with the middle Term) fet on the left Hand ; foas the I ft (on the Left) be like the 4th (/. e. that next the middle Term onthe Right) and the 2d will confequently be like the )th, /. e. the Extreme onthe right Hand, ido. Take the ift, 3d and 4th fo ilated, and with them youcan form a diftird Qiicftion of the Rule of Three (in which you may aflume the2d Term Ift both Suppofitioa2ind Demand, it will help to form the Qiieftion right; ^but. RVLE of Fl VE. 6$ but neglc6t the fifth Term altogether in the f\i-i\ Operation:) and having dulyperformed the Operation of that Rule, take the Anfwer found, and make it themiddle Term of a 2d Operation; On the right Hand whereof, fet the 5th, andon the Left, the 2d Term of the five dated: By thefe you can form a newQueftion of the Rule of Three (^aflliming the 4th Term of the Five, which wasthe right Hand Extreme of the laft Operation ; and repeat it in the Suppojjtionand Demand.)
