Sensitivity testing of Streptococcus pneumoniae to the antibiotic penicillin by E-test. The E-test technique is a method of sensitivity testing of bacteria. A plastic strip which contains predefined antibiotic concentrations is used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antibiotics, that is the lowest concentration needed to be effective against the pathogen.
