There are plenty of short stem lilies on the market, but they are found difficult to move. Longer length stock is not in large supply and although selling better than short stuff, leaves much to be desired. Callas are in fair demand. The violet season approaches its end with the advent of warm weather. As violets become scarce, sweet peas ex- perience a greater demand. Sweet peas were, generally considered, a little scarce last week. There is good, poor and indifferent quality stock arriving. Calendulas were in fair supply and sold fairly well. Mignonette is moving slowly. Tulips have been dragging heavily. Darwins enjoyed the prefer- ence regularly, but even this variety is not selling well. Jonquils also are slug- gish. The supply of daisies is just about sufficient to meet a fairly active demand. There is a good call for lupines, but the supply is not large. Snapdragons have not been selling well of late. The qual- ity of the stock is excellent, but it is nevertheless found difficult to move. The supply is large. Orchids are more plentiful, but the demand seems lighter than usual at this time of year. All greens are selling well. March Business. When one looks back to March of 191G it makes the sales record of last month look extremely good. Last year March was one of the best months of an exceptionally good spring season. To have equaled last March is a creditable record, while the houses that have made an increase in sales have all the more reason to be pleased with the showing. The Weather in March. The latter part of March was un- usually favorable for those whose Easter crops were backward. The percentage of possible sunshine for the whole month was fifty-five, which is two points above normal, b
