Moon observation by British astronomer and mathematician Thomas Harriot (1560-1621). These drawings were made from the first telescopic observations of the moon, made on 26th July 1609 at Syon House in London. They predate Galileo’s study of the moon by several months. Harriot turned his attention from mathematics to astronomy after Halley's Comet in 1607.
